At V Spear Livestock we breed and sell quarter horses, as well as provide mountain lion and bobcat hunting guide services!

The goal of the V Spear is to provide good, well-started ranch horses with the following attributes:

• versatile
• good cow sense
• strong legs with sound feet
• soft mouths yielding to light pressure from the reins to the bit
• ability to move off and around their hind ends by weaving through sagebrush, jostling cows, cutting a cow from a herd, and roping and then bracing for the tightening of the rope.

Throughout their training our horses are engaged in many elements such as:

• arena work
• cow work - doctoring, sorting, roping, riding through big country
• hunting and packing
• crossing fallen trees, creeks; climbing and sliding steep mountain sides; moving through deep snow
• hunting with hounds and ignoring the presence of dogs and other distractions
